When talking about Persenk Ultra, it's impossible not to use superlatives to describe this unique sports event. It is the largest international event in the Central Rhodope Mountains, featuring two ultramarathons - Persenk Ultra with a distance of 161 km and Orehovo Ultra with a distance of 52 km, as well as a nearly half-marathon run named after the host city, Asenovgrad.
Persenk Ultra stands out with the longest distance, the greatest elevation gain (5387 meters), and the most beautiful route, passing through the picturesque parts of the Central Rhodope Mountains. The start is from Asenovgrad, passing by Asen's Fortress, Byala Cherkva, Orehovo, Persenk Hut, and through the ancient Roman road under Persenk Peak, including the Wonder Bridges to the canyon of Tsirikova Church.
Orehovo Ultra offers 52 km with a total positive elevation gain of 3495 meters, also starting from Asenovgrad and passing through Baba Peak, Byala Cherkva, to Orehovo and back.
